Elton’s super tots enjoy Protos community benefits

Community groups are cooking up a storm in Elton thanks to support from the Protos Community Benefit Fund.  Cash from the community chest has been used to fund a new kitchen and equipment at Elton Church Hall – meaning it can now become a hub for the whole community.

Until recently the community hall has only been able to serve basic snacks, but the new kitchen has opened the door to a range of new family-friendly sessions.  The weekly Super Tots group are some the first to reap the benefits, tucking into healthy snacks.  A local youth group are also using the centre on a weekly basis to perfect their cookery and baking skills.

Reverend Ruth Ackroyd said: “The new kitchen means we’ve now got great facilities for use by the whole community and can now put a calendar of events together that bring Elton and the surrounding areas together – from weekly sessions to one off events such as Christmas lunches.”

Speaking following the grant, Jane Gaston, Development Director at Protos said: “It is really great to see Protos making a difference in the surrounding communities.  Elton Church Hall will be welcoming people for years to come and we’re pleased to have played a small part in the recent upgrade.”
